DIY Garland

It's so easy bein' green!

With our upcycling garland made from bionella lids and recycled paper, you can easily conjure up some color in your home. You can make it spring-like like here or also adapt it to any other season. We show you how it works.

You need:
  • bionella lid
  • all-purpose glue or hot glue gun
  • scissors
  • white acrylic pen
  • wooden beads
  • newspaper and colored paper
  • jute cord
  • felt string
Step 1
At first, paint the bionella lids. This works particularly well with a white acrylic pen. We have chosen spring-like flower motives. However, you are completely free in the design - even letters would be fine!
Step 2
Next, you need put eyelets on the lids for hanging. You can form the eyelets from a pretty jute cord and attach them to the back of the lids with the all-purpose glue. Alternatively, you can also use super glue or a hot glue gun. Press the cord well onto the glue and give the glue some time to dry.
Step 3
Next make colorful flowers out of paper. For our garland, we used a colorful selection of colored paper and newsprint. Cut the paper into squares of different sizes and fold them twice in the middle. Then fold them diagonally to form a triangle. In order to get petals, cut the top corner half round. For the hole in the middle of the flower, cut the tip of the triangle.
Step 4
Through this hole you now thread a wooden bead with the jute cord. This not only looks pretty, but also serves as a hanger. Repeat this for all paper flowers. You can also combine different sized flowers in this way and hold them together.
Step 5
Finally, attach all the lids and flowers to a long felt string.

NOW YOUR GARLAND IS READY!

HANG THE GARLAND ABOVE YOUR DESK, ON YOUR WINDOW OR ON THE BALCONY. OR MAYBE YOU GIVE IT TO A FRIEND AS A GIFT.

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR RESULTS!
